COLUM : vocals, acoustic guitars Having spent the last 6 years genre and country-hopping, Regan has settled in the UK and come up with a confident self-produced debut album. From the riff-based “Don’t think about it” (which was a semi-finalist of the International Songwriting Competiton) to the delicate “Your Voice” GO captures a broad emotional range and showcases Regan as one of the brightest new singer/songwriters to come out of Ireland and the UK in the last few years. Released for download in March 2007, GO immediately went into the top 5 most downloaded on Wippit and easymusic download sites and stayed there for four weeks. It is now also available on iTunes. Over the past few years Colum has proved his worth as a performer playing all over the UK, Ireland and USA, supporting acts such as Charlotte Church, The Frames, Tom Baxter, John Spillane, and Tom Pacheco amongst others, and in 2006 standout performances at Shepherds Bush Empire, London, The Spiegel Tent, Cork city, and the Summer Sundae Festival, Leicester helped to raise his profile, as has the inclusion of his songs on the Welsh Music Foundation's International Sampler, and Ireland's Southern Fried compilations. As a song writer, arranger and performer Colum has been involved in innovative musical projects, including theatre productions, (notably a mobile self-contained drama “Glastonbury” which starred Keith Allen, art design by Damien Hirst and musical direction by Nick Lloyd-Webber) working with Grammy-nominated dance act K-Klass, storytellers and spoken word artists, as well as developing music programmes with educational foundations and co-authoring a new educational music book for students of English. |
